I play Euro Games every Wednesday (that I can) at Pandemonium Books in Central Square, Cambridge. I prefer the ones with a lot of negotiation and player interaction such as Cosmic Encounter, Settlers of Catan, and Medici. I also love Scrabble, chess, most word games, and most abstract games. I like party games that require creativity such as Beyond Balderdash.
Games I *haven't* liked so far are Power Grid, Primordial Soup, Puerto Rico, Pillars of the Earth, Transamerica, Khet/Deflexion, Java, and Lost Cities. Games that I liked playing once but offer little replay value for me are Funny Friends, Fearsome Floors, Mystery of the Abbey, Shadows Over Camelot, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Quo Vadis, and Shear Panic.
I have a young son who I hope to get into games, so I have quite a lot of children's games, some for when he's older.
I'm a freelance writer who specializes in grant proposals.
