Started playing games in my teens and was an avid Avalon Hill gamer for many years. Took a short break from gaming after moving to Kansas City but now I'm glad to be back in the hobby again.
I always been heavy into wargames with games like Britannia (Love the new Fantasy Flight edition), Fortress America, Axis and Allies and Civilization being a few favorites in my high school and college days. These days I find myself really enjoying the games of GMT, MMP and Fantasy Flight. I'm especially hooked on the card driven wargames which are great for history buffs like myself and more recently been getting into block games.
I actually run a GMT Games discussion group through Yahoo Groups.
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/gmtgames/ I have an ardent interest in history, especially the American Civil War. In general I will play any Civil War game once. The history of the Battle of Gettysburg, the Army of the Potomac and Civil War ironclads are of a particular interest to me and I have read countless books on the topic. I enjoy visiting Civil War battlefields around the country when I can. Other eras I also enjoy are The Italian Renaissance, Medieval Britain as well as Britain and America in the 19th and early 20th centuries. My favorite games tend to have strong historical themes. I generally dislike abstract games.
