An ash I know, Yggdrasil its name. With water white is the great tree wet; thence come the dews that fall in the dales. Green by Urth's well does it ever grow.

i second the "Huh?" I'm so confused and don't know what to do. the two grains of salt handed out have been "left...choose" and "size up left," and "fill right" and "find the connection to the colors on the right." those who have solved it probably think I would die from high blood pressure but still i need a mine full!

A hearty call out to CINMEL for helping me via email. I finally got it. Geesh! Sometimes you can't even see the color, much less the trees or the forrest!

Thanks Cin and Pb. I finally figured it out with Cin's first clue and by poking around and around and around until I found three of the five.

Then I guessed until I got it right.

It just was not intuitive at all for me. I feel like such an idiot. But that is not unusual.

The Mets, after an eventful, but productive, trade deadline, find themselves on top of the NL East. Amazing!

Hi Leadfoot. In reference to yesterday's puzzle:

Quote:
1) "john" and "george" - both played guitar - why choose one over the other?

Look carefully at the picture. There seems to be some tears coming from the guitar. Does that suggest something?

Spoiler (click to reveal)
One of George Harrison's most famous songs with the Beatles was "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Hence, that's George and the missing one is John.

It really was one of my favorite of the user-submitted puzzles and I found very little ambiguity to it.

We all feel that way sometimes... there have been many times when someone had to hold my hand and walk me through the puzzles....

Not even getting where to start. There are sooo many answers that fit each of the categories, even using the number of letters on the left as a guide.

It was one of my least favorite. From the solution: "All this is common pop knowledge/history and easily found on wikipedia."

I figured out the Presidents and The Beatles and Harry & Ron, but didn't know the others' names. For example, the only character from Scooby Doo whose name I know is Scooby Doo.

If it wasn't for an extremely generous serving of salt here, I would have given up completely. (but I had to search Wikipedia to find the answer...)
