FFG Acquires BattleLore: "Sounds nice, lassie, but are we compatible?"

Compatible!?
Sure, when BL second edition comes out, with a ton of new cards, markers, secondary boards and special GOLD dice! Just wait till the positively HUGE hero expansion comes out! Cause it´s a fair bet it´ll include all those figures from Descent and Runebound!
Don´t get me wrong, I own and love a lot of FFG games, but I don´t want to see BattleLore turn into the "Large battle system, complimenting Runebound and Descent, set in the Terinoth world"

Hi Jesper,
I respect your judgement very much.
I am a great fan of FFG and I own Descent and all its expansions along with War of the Ring. I am prepared to wait and see and give them the benefit of the doubt.
Their Customer service is the same as DoW's - second to none. I am sure that they have paid quite a sum of money for the rights to BattleLore and they hold Richard Borg in the same high esteem that DoW does.
I don't think they are going to fix something that isn't broken.
I sincerely hope that I am right. As I have often said, I am a glass-half-full person rather than a glass-half-empty one.
Regards,
Jim Est. 1949

You´re right Jim! I was still not quite awake, and still not recovered from the shellshock, when I wrote the comment! I´m taking this as it comes, and I´m pretty hopeful that things will turn out great!

Second to none? I dunno, Z-Man has pretty good customer service... Also, I'd like to say I'm a glass-half person. It depends if it is full or empty depending on your relative perspective. How did you get to the half state. Did you start to fill up the class or start to pour it out? =)

I,too, own all the Descent games and all the Battlelore games. I am not worried about FFG taking over Battlelore from DOW. I am sure they will do a great job!
As for Heroscape and Wizards of the Coast...well, I am still in a bit of doubt about that one. But I will remain optimistic. After all, they did finally decide to put out the Ticalla Jungle (although to be technical, it was a holdover from MB).

Not to muddy the discussion here (and I probably should pay more attention to HS threads ), but I'm much more optimistic about what FFG will do with BattleLore than what Wizards will do with HeroScape. I'm very surprised that the only thing Wizards has put out for HS was something that Hasbro already had completed. I was expecting something, even beit a tease , at Gencon... EDIT: O, cute picture, Jim

My one and only concern and hope is that FFG will remain committed to delivering figs that fit the DoW asthetic. This photo captures that problem quite nicely.
My own individual perception is that the fan base has been dwindling the past year so I don't see FFG coming out with a major new version and risking alienating current fans. I see all the major elements of the game remaining but will FFG come up with sculpts that carry on DoWs youthful (for lack of a better term) aesthetic?
