This is a scorekeeping spreadsheet to adapt Die Macher to simulate the 2008 Democratic primaries, called PriMacher. Each player plays one aspirant for the Democratic nomination. The game is played pretty much the same as the regular game, but in 5 rounds, with each representing a set of state primaries and caucuses during which pledged delegates are scored, and then the final “convention tally” for scoring superdelegates. The only other adaptation in rules is that coalitions are formed at the end of a round, rather than the beginning, once they are formed they cannot be broken, one player must agree to join the ticket as vice-president, and that player hands over all earned delegates, superdelegates, and cash at the end of that round and exits the game. Die Macher (3rd edition) Play Aids, Version 1 Includes three files: (1) DM_SetUp_v1.pdf - 1 page - Checklist for set up (2) DM_RoundOverview_v1.pdf - 1 page - Round overview with section number references into rule book and color hints to remind players which aspects of game can be affected in each phase (3) DM_FlipBook_v1.pdf - 11 pages - Print and cut to make small, 22-page tabbed flip book summarizing rules Especially valuable for teaching new players, but also helpful for experienced players. I have five copies of the flip book, one for each player, in my game box. Another suggestion: Place the Set Up and Round Overview pages in a clear plastic vertical display stand for easy reference during play without having to pass them around. I owe a HUGE debt to the unidentified geek who created the original Die Macher Step by Step summaries. They were great help as we learned to play and inspired these revisions.

Die Macher Score Board by Liumas. Print a large score board that everyone can see. Nicer feel of a real election as everyone publicly watches the returns trickle in. (PDf)
